Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister and BJP MLA Basavaraja Bommai’s sudden trip to Delhi on Sunday raised many speculations in political circles. This is his first visit to the national capital after the May elections to the state assembly.

Bommai boarded the flight in Bengaluru on Sunday evening and reached Delhi at around 9 pm. He went to the residence of a party MP from Karnataka and held consultations.

Bommai is likely to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday morning. However, no time has been set for the meeting as the parliament is in session.

The overnight journey to meet the party’s high command has raised many eyebrows. It is speculated that Bommai’s visit is related to the appointment of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state Assembly. The post remains vacant even after 2 months since the conclusion of the elections. it is said that Bommai intends to convince the BJP central leadership to expedite the LoP selection.

Bommai’s visit also assumes significance as C T Ravi returned to Bengaluru from Delhi on Sunday after meeting party seniors including BJP National President J P Nadda.
