A disturbing incident of moral policing unfolded on the night of Tuesday, August 9, at Dubai Market, situated in the heart of the city. A group of youths, engaging in an altercation with the owner of a shop, resorted to physical assault before swiftly making their escape.
The targeted shop, located in close proximity to the Central Market, found itself at the center of the incident. The sequence of events began when a customer entered the shop during the evening and approached the owner with a request to repair a powerbank. However, upon being informed that the shop does not offer powerbank repair services, the customer demanded access to a screwdriver, intending to undertake the repair personally.
When the shop owner expressed the unavailability of staff and resources to provide a screwdriver, what began as a discussion soon escalated into a heated argument. The situation took a darker turn as the customer physically assaulted the shop owner. In response to the owner’s resistance against the attack, the customer promptly summoned his group of associates, who then subjected the shop owner to a severe beating.
The entire assault incident was captured by the shop’s CCTV camera.
