A local resident has lodged a complaint about animal cruelty by unidentified persons. Stray dogs are being killed by deliberate poisonings in the Nejar Moodubettu area of Kallianpura here.

In the complaint, Canis Mathias alleged that miscreants have been poisoning the stray dogs that roam in the area. At least six dogs have been found dead due to poisonings. Moreover, cats and eagles have also fallen victim to the poison-laced food, the complaint said.

A stray canine that was found poisoned was recently rescued and handed over to the Animal Rescue Centre in Saligrama.

Mathias, in the complaint, sought stern action against the culprits behind the heinous act.
