In a significant development, local authorities have taken action against the illicit sale of prohibited e-cigarettes and foreign cigarettes lacking government-mandated warning labels.
Following a raid on August 21, police officials have formally requested the Mangaluru Municipal Corporation to invalidate the trade licenses of three establishments found engaging in these illegal activities.
The targeted operation was executed at three outlets situated within the premises of Lalbagh Saibeen Complex. During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated a substantial sum of Rs 2.70 lakh, alongside a considerable amount of valuable e-cigarettes and imported cigarettes. A criminal case has been initiated against the proprietors of the implicated shops.
Notably, these individuals have previously faced legal actions for their involvement in similar unlawful ventures.
