Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Jagdish Shettar, revealed that he has not received any communication from the central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shettar’s comments came during a press interaction in Udupi on Saturday, where he expressed his surprise over the ongoing discussions in the media without any direct communication from the BJP high command.

Addressing reporters, Shettar commented, “No one from the central BJP has called me so far, neither Amit Shah nor anyone else. Why all these discussions without calling? If called, I will inform the media.”

Shettar further critiqued the current state of affairs within the Karnataka BJP, highlighting what he perceived as a lack of clear leadership. He noted that the state president of the party is yet to be changed, leaving the BJP in a state of uncertainty. Shettar stated, “BJP in Karnataka is leaderless. BJP does not have one leader. BJP is meeting Congress leaders at different places. BJP is in a very miserable situation in Karnataka and it will go even worse. A lot of people are suffering and suffering within the BJP. A lot of people are ready to come out.”

Responding to reports that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had contacted him, Shettar acknowledged such media coverage but clarified that he had not been contacted directly. He also recounted a past event where BJP leaders were allegedly kept behind barricades during a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the perceived disconnect within the party.

Shettar voiced his predictions for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, expressing confidence in the Congress party’s prospects. He confidently stated, “Congress will win the Lok Sabha elections and it is certain that Congress will win 12 to 15 seats. If you see the current situation, you should not be surprised if you get more than 15 seats. People of all taluks and districts of the state are eager to join the Congress.”
