Two teachers from Karnataka chosen for National Award to Teachers 2023

Sirsi/Mahalingapura: Two teachers from Karnataka are among the 50 teachers from across the country selected for the National Award to Teachers 2023 by the Union government.
Narayan Parmeshwar Bhagwat of Sirsi and Sapna Shrishail Anigol of Bagalkot have been chosen for the prestigious award have been chosen for the prestigious award.
Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs 50,000/-, and a silver medal. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on September 5, the notification from the Department of School Education & Literacy said.
Narayana Bhagwat is a Kannada teacher of Shri Marikamba Govt PUC – High School Section in Sirsi. A theatre enthusiast, he experimented with teaching the Kannada language in an effective and engaging manner.
Sapna Anigol has been teaching science subjects at the K.L.E. Society’s S.C.P. Jr College High School, Bagalkot for the past 19 years. She has adopted modern technologies for simplifying learning complex science topics. She is also a recipient of the state-level Best Teacher award in 2021.
About National Awards to Teachers
Instituted in 1958, the National Awards to Teachers recognize excellence in teaching in shaping young minds. The awards are presented on September 5 every year, coinciding on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India.
According to the Department of School Education and Literacy, the purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honor those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
