Padubidri: Labourer killed in scooter-tanker collision

Padubidri: Jharkhand-based labourer was killed in a  collision between a scooter and a bullet tanker at Kannagar Junction on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Saddam Ansari (24), who was riding a pillion scooter.

The bullet tanker, moving from Mangaluru towards Udupi knocked down the scooter that was moving towards Padubidri. Ansari who hit the road was crushed by the rear wheels of the tanker. He later died at a private hospital in Mukka without responding to treatment.

The scooter rider escaped unhurt in the incident.

There are frequent accidents at the dangerous Kannagar junction. Locals blamed the NHAI officials and the Navayuga Construction Company for the problems. Shekhar Hejamadi said that the design flaws are leading to frequent accidents and tragic loss of life.
