Sowjanya Case: 3-day protest from Sep 11 in front of DC office

Mangaluru: A dharna will be held in front of the DC’s office from September 11 to September 13 demanding a reinvestigation into the Sowjanya rape and murder case, said Balakrishna D B of the Chief Convener of the ‘Sowjanya Prakarana Vokkaligara Zilla Horata Samiti on Tuesday.

The protest will be held from 10 am till 4 pm for 3 days starting September 11.  A memorandum will be submitted to the Chief Minister via the Deputy Commissioner seeking reinvestigation into the case, he told reporters during a press meet.

The Samiti is demanding a probe overseen by a retired judge. The actions of the earlier investigating officer should also be probed, it said.

Until the reinvestigation is ordered, the struggle will continue. The struggle will be extended across the state if the demands are not met, the Samiti said.
