Sowjanya Case: K’taka HC asks govt to enforce restraining order

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has directed the State government and the Home Department to ensure that its order restraining Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi from making statements in relation to the Sowjanya murder case against Dhamasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade and his family members is enforced.
The court made the directions after hearing a petition submitted by the regional director of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Sheenappa, and another person, named Nandeeshkumar Jain.
A single-judge bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit heard the argument presented by counsel for the petitioners S Rajashkar in this regard.
After hearing the arguments, the bench issued notices to the Chief Secretary of the State Government, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, State Director General of Police, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada SP, Bantwal DySP, Belthangadi and Dharmasthala Police Station Officers, and Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi.
It also directed the subordinate court to ensure that the restraining order was not violated.
The court also verbally warned Mahesh Shetty against violating the restraining order.
