Nigerian woman drug kingpin arrested for supplying MDMA to peddlers in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: In a significant move towards making Manglauru a ‘drug-free city’, the Mangaluru CCB Police conducted a successful operation resulting in the arrest of a major drug peddler.
The suspect, a Nigerian woman identified as Adewole Adetutu Aanu alias Regina Zara alias Ayisha, was apprehended in Bengaluru, police said in a press release. She is accused of supplying MDMA to peddlers in Mangaluru.
The CCB Police had been diligently tracking down the drug peddlers responsible for flooding Mangaluru with narcotics, particularly the synthetic drug MDMA (Methylene dioxy methamphetamine). During their investigation, they gathered crucial information that led them to Adewole Adetutu Aanu, who had been residing in Bengaluru.
Police confiscated a substantial quantity of MDMA, weighing 400 grams, along with an iPhone and Rs 2,910 in cash. The total estimated value of the seized assets is approximately Rs 20.52 lakhs.
According to police, Adewole Adetutu Aanu is a Nigerian national and had arrived in India on a student visa, subsequently working as a nurse. She is accused of being involved in drug-related cases registered in several police stations in Mangaluru, including Ullal, CEN Police Station, Mangaluru North, Kankanadi Nagar, Konaje, and Surathkal Police Stations. It has been revealed that the accused supplied drugs to individuals involved in seven different cases, police added.
The accused has been presented before the court and has been remanded into judicial custody, police said.
