Udupi gears up for Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Vitlapindi!

The countdown to Shri Krishna Janmashtami has commenced in Udupi, and a substantial number of devotees have already congregated at Udupi Sri Krishna Math.

Under the guidance of Srividyasagaratheertha Sripada of Paryaya Sri Krishnapura Mutt, the festival is in full swing, and preparations such as lighting lamps and adorning Rathbeedhi are currently underway.

Flower decorations have begun at various locations within the Math, while the culinary school is bustling with the preparation of Unde-Chakkuli, with a team of 50 chefs diligently working. These delectable offerings are intended for Lord Krishna and will be presented at midnight on the auspicious day of Sri Krishnashtami, which falls on September 6.

The “Ashtadinotsava” program is scheduled from September 1st to 8th at the Rajangana of Krishna Math. Paryaya Sri Krishnapura Math has collaborated to organize this program in celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

This event encompasses various cultural performances, including dance and singing, coupled with daily discourses. Numerous competitions are underway within Sri Krishna Math, and participants have registered for various contests.

A major highlight is the Rathabeedhi procession, which features the breaking of clay pots using a gollu.

Vitlapindi:

Pujas will be held early morning on Vitlapindi, that is on September 7 as it falls on Ekadashi Vrat. Annasantharpane will commence at 10 am, and the offerings will be distributed at Annabrahma and Bhojanashale.

 

Costumed tiger dance teams are gearing up for Ashtami, with a particular focus on women’s tiger costume teams this time. Various organizations are collaborating to organize the Krishna Vesha Competition and Tiger Dance Competition, promising to be captivating facets of the festivities.
