Chikkamagaluru: Two girl students sustained critical injuries after a private bus rammed into them while they were waiting at the bus stop at Duglapura gate at Tarikere here on Thursday morning.

The injured have been shifted to Shimoga McGann Hospital for treatment.

The students were reportedly waiting for a bus to go to school when a speeding private bus rammed into them. Five of the students had a miraculous escape while the two girl students were seriously injured in the mishap.

The out-of-control bus also rammed into the bus shelter and a roadside house thus damaging them.

Locals expressed outrage over the incident and alleged that brivate bus operators drive at full speed which often causes accidents. They demanded that speed restrictions be imposed on buses.

Tarikere police visited the scene and registered a case.
