Kasaragod: Woman drowns her newborn baby in muddy water

Kasaragod: In a shocking incident a mother allegedly killed her newborn baby by drowing it in the muddy water.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, September 12 at Uppal Pachlampare under the Manjeshwar police station limits.

According to reports in local media, the mother and child aged one-and-a-half months were missing. Upon a search, the mother was found a short distance away from her home. However, the infant was missing.

When asked the woman is said to have told them that she had drowned the baby in standing water in a nearby field.

A case has been filed at the Manjeshwar police station in this regard. From the woman’s behaviour, it is suspected she may be suffering from a psychological condition. She has reportedly been taken into custody and investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
