Kottigehara: A lorry plunged 100 feet down the cliff on the Charmadi Ghat road on Friday night reportedly due to poor visibility.

A dense fog has engulfed the Charmadi Ghats after the continued rains for the past several days, worsening driving conditions on the ghat road.

The ill-fated lorry was on its way from Puttur to Chitradurga laden with water bottles when the mishap occurred. It is said that the driver failed to see the road clearly due to the poor visibility leading to the accident.

The lorry collided with the barricade and hurtled 100 feet down the cliff. Fortunately, it got stuck on a huge tree thus saving the lives of both the driver and the cleaner who were on board.

A case has been registered at the Banakal police station.
