Malpe: A protest meeting calling for reinvestigation into the Sowjanya murder case was held under the aegis of Yuva Bharat Karnataka Sangathan along with the other organizations and Bhajana Mandirs here near the Malpe Seawalk on Friday evening.
Addressing the gathering, former police officer Girish Mattanna opined that an appeal in a higher court would be detrimental to the demand of the protestors and would aid the culprits to escape from being brought to justice.
He said that if the case is appealed in the higher court, there is a possibility that the government will refuse to re-investigate it.
Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, who has been spearheading the cause, said that the administrative system has failed to trace the real culprits in its investigation. He demanded that the government re-investigate the Sowjanya case, take legal action against the culprits, and deliver justice.
Thammanna Shetty and Saujanya’s mother Kusumavathi also addressed the gathering.
