Bantwal: 2 arrested for home burglaries during broad daylight

Bantwal City Police have arrested two persons who allegedly carried out burglaries in broad daylight.

The accused have been identified as Faraz (27) from Bengre Bhadrapalli, Mangaluru, and Tausif Ahmed (34) from the 4th block of Chokkabettu, Krishnapur, Suratkal.

They were apprehended with stolen goods valued at Rs. 15,56,000. The stolen items included 223 grams of gold jewelry worth Rs. 12,23,000, along with silver articles valued at Rs. 3,000. Additionally, a Mahindra car and motorcycle, valued at around Rs. 3,30,000, were also seized.

The arrests were made following an investigation into a burglary that took place on September 1 at the residence of Michael D’souza at Sajipa Munnur. Thieves had broken into the residence, making off with gold jewelry worth Rs. 5,36,000 weighing 115 grams, as well as silver articles worth Rs. 3,000 from the cupboards inside the house.

Faraz, one of the accused, has prior cases related to house theft in both Mangaluru North and Panambur Police Stations.
