Mangaluru: CCB police arrest two for peddling MDMA

Mangaluru: Continuing their efforts to create a “Drugs Free Mangaluru,” the CCB police apprehended two individuals involved in the illegal sale of MDMA, a potent synthetic drug. Acting on a tip, the CCB conducted a targeted operation in the KS Rao Road area, successfully confiscating a significant quantity of the prohibited substance.
The arrested individuals have been identified as P.S. Abdul Azeez alias Azeez (31), a resident of Thekkaru, Uppinangadi, and Akshith Kumar (26), a resident of Katipalla, Surathkal.
As much as 35 grams of MDMA with an estimated street value of Rs. 1,75,000/- was seized. Additionally, two mobile phones, Rs. 600/- in cash, and a digital weighing scale were also confiscated. The total value of the seized assets to approximately Rs. 1,96,000/-, police said in a press release.
Abdul Azeez, a repeat offender with prior narcotics-related cases, had recently been released on bail just 15 days prior to this latest arrest. He was found to be resuming his illicit drug trade, police added.
The case has been filed at the Mangaluru North Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to uncover additional individuals involved in this drug distribution network. The successful operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Anupam Agarwal, the esteemed Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru City, police said.
