Gadag: More allegations have surfaced, now in Gadag, against Abhinava Halashree Swamiji, who is one of the alleged conspirators of the BJP MLA ticket fraud case along with Chaitra Kundapura. A BJP ticket hopeful from the Shirahatti SC reserved constituency in Gadag district has accused the Swamiji of fleecing Rs 1 crore from him.
Sanjay Chavdala, a former PDO of Ranathura Village Panchayat in Shirahatti Taluk, has filed a complaint against Abhinav Halashree, alleging that the seer had taken Rs 1 crore from him for getting a BJP MLA ticket. On September 19, he submitted a written complaint against Halashree Swamiji at the Mundargi police station.
Chadvala has claimed that he handed over Rs 1 crore to Halashree Swamiji before the elections, reportedly in 3 installments. However, due to the absence of proper documentation, Mundargi Police have registered only a Non-Cognizable (NC) complaint until substantial evidence is provided.
Originally from Hebbal village in Shirahatti taluk, Sanjay Chavdala had been suspended from government duty and now resides in Mundargi town. After making the serious allegations Sanjay has been unreachable and his sudden disappearance and the subsequent switch-off of his mobile phone have raised suspicions.
District Superintendent of Police Babasaheb Nemagoud told Udayavani: “Gadag police have issued a notice to Sanjay Chavdala, who filed a complaint against Abhinava Halashree, accusing him of fraudulent activities in obtaining money for an MLA ticket. Sanjay had allegedly sought the BJP ticket for the reserved constituency in Shirahatti at various stages.”
“We have already served a notice to Sanjay Chavdala, urging him to submit relevant documents regarding the alleged fraud. However, the complainant has yet to furnish any such documentation. Once the necessary documents are provided, we will proceed with a thorough investigation,” said Nemagoud.
