The 3rd APMC court in Bengaluru has decided to extend the judicial custody of Chaitra and seven other individuals accused in a fraud case until October 6.
Chaitra, along with seven other key accused, namely Abhinav Halashree, Srikanth, Gagan, Ramesh, Prajwal, and Dhanraj, had been remanded to judicial custody for a period of 10 days on September 13. Their police custody had concluded, leading to their appearance in court on Saturday.
The case stems from a complaint lodged by businessman Govinda Babu Poojary at the Bandepallya police station in Bengaluru. Poojary alleged that Chaitra and her associates had duped him of a substantial sum, amounting to 5 crores, under the pretext of securing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket to contest in the Byndur Assembly Constituency. The charges against the accused include cheating and fraudulent activities in connection with the alleged receipt of money.
Sources close to the investigation have indicated that Chaitra and her team have provided a confessional statement to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) authorities. Furthermore, all statements, including Chaitra’s, have been recorded on video as part of the investigation. Chaitra reportedly detailed how Gagan, Halashree Swamiji, Srikanth , and herself had masterminded the entire fraudulent scheme and enlisted the assistance of others by offering financial incentives. The next court appearance is scheduled for October 6, where further proceedings in this high-profile fraud case will take place.
