Dharwad: Mahatma Gandhi Award for Garaga Kshetriya Seva Sangha involved in producing Indian National Flags

Dharwad: Garaga Kshetriya Seva Sangha in Dharwad district, which is the first khadi and village industries organisation in the country to be involved in the production of cloth required for the Indian national flag, has been awarded the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Puraskar for the year 2023.
The state government has issued an order in this regard accepting the recommendation of the selection committee constituted under the chairmanship of retired Karnataka High Court judge B Veerappa.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will present the prestigious award of the state government, which carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, to the Garaga Kshetriya Seva Sangha at a special function to be held on October 2, the birth anniversary of The Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, at 4:30 pm at Sulochana Auditorium, Vartha Soudha on Bhagwan Mahaveer (Infantry) Road in Bengaluru.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will be present on the occasion and MLA Rizwan Arshad will preside over the function. Chief Minister’s Secretary N Jayaram, who is also the Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department, Hemant M Nimbalkar, Commissioner, Information and Public Relations Department, and other dignitaries will attend the function.
