Cauvery water dispute: Moral support for K’taka bandh in coastal districts; Pvt buses to maintain service

The Karnataka bandh scheduled for Friday in protest against the release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu has garnered moral support on the coast.

Notably, the private bus organization has expressed moral support for the Karnataka bandh. However, private buses in the coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada will continue their services as usual on Friday.

While emphasizing their sympathies with the Cauvery issue, the private bus union stated that suspending bus traffic during the bandh could pose difficulties for students, employees, and the general public. Consequently, they have decided to maintain regular bus operations.

In contrast, the hotel industry in Bengaluru has openly supported the Karnataka bandh, whereas on the coast, they have offered moral support. Therefore, hotels in Udupi-Mangalore will remain open despite the Karnataka Bandh on Friday.

Overall, life in the coastal districts is expected to remain relatively normal despite the scheduled bandh.
