Mangaluru: A case has been registered at the CEN police station against 3 persons for defrauding their employer of Rs 30 Lakhs.

B Sachhidanada Shetty, a businessman from Maroli who has taken a lease for supplying food for student mess at the Janana Sangama campus of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU)  in Belagavi registered a complaint against 3 of his employees.

The complaint named Jagadish Krishna Shetty, Ankita Anand Wuslakar, and Babu Dalwai as the accused.

The complainant said that he had bagged a contract for food supply to the mess for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2022.  For this, he had appointed Jagadish Krishna Shetty as manager, Ankita Anand Wuslakar as Accountant, and Babu Dalwai as an assistant.

As VTU had ordered to collect mess bills directly from students, the complainant said, a UPI-enabled POS machine linked to his bank account was installed on site.

The complaint alleged that Jagadish Krishna Shetty replaced the original POS machine installed with another one that was linked to his bank account. Of the bills paid by the students, Jagadish siphoned Rs 6,83,175 to his account whereas Akinta transferred Rs 10,48,337, and Babu received Rs 52,622.

Moreover, the accused had not paid the salaries of the mess workers. The complainant stated that he had lost a total of Rs 30 Lakhs due to the actions of the accused.
