Bengaluru: Vatal Nagaraj, the president of the Kannada Okkoota that organized a Karnataka Bandh over Cauvery water sharing, has called for a siege of KRS dam on October 5 in the ongoing Cauvery struggle.
Addressing a gathering at Freedom Park during the Karnataka bandh on September 29, Nagaraj criticized the government’s use of police force to suppress the protest. He asserted the resolve of pro-Kannada activists to continue their demonstrations.
A bike rally from Mysore Bank Circle to the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam (KRS) will be held on October 5, Nagaraj said and urged widespread participation.
Nagaraj also expressed discontent with Karnataka Home Minister Parameshwar, accusing the government of misusing the police department. He warned of a potential siege at the Home Minister’s residence if what he termed as the “suppression of their legitimate struggle” persists.
