World Heart Day: Free cardiac health check-up camp for govt employees of Udupi district held at Rajatadri Manipal

Manipal: Every year 29th September is observed as World Heart Day. The day is celebrated to spread awareness about cardiovascular disease which causes nearly half of all the non-communicable diseases in the world. The theme of World Heart Day 2022 is “Use Heart, Know Heart”.

On this occasion, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, MAHE Manipal in association with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Udupi District, and Urban Primary Health Centre Manipal organized a free cardiac Health screening camp for the DC Office employees and other government office employees of Rajatadri, Manipal.

Dr. K Vidya Kumari, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Udupi District inaugurated the program and said, no one should be careless or negligent about health. At least minimum exercise should be done daily. A balanced diet should be consumed, and awareness about heart-related diseases is necessary. She urged all employees to take advantage of this free heart health check-up organized by the KMC Hospital Manipal as there is a possibility of many health problems due to the changed lifestyle.

Mamatha Devi G S, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Additional District Magistrate said, “we all should ensure that we undergo health check-ups once a year.”

Mr Shrinivas Rao, CP0, Udupi Zilla panchayat, Dr. Nagabhushan Udupa, District Health, and Family Welfare Officer, were present.

Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal welcomed the gathering and said that in today’s heart health check-up program, we are doing blood pressure, diabetes, ECG, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and cardiologist consultations free of cost. Professor and Head of Community Health Department Dr. Ashwini Kumar proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Afroz was the master of ceremony for the program.
