Manipal Marathon: 6th edition to be held on Feb 11, 2024

Manipal: The Manipal Academy of Higher Education has revealed the eagerly awaited 6th edition of the Manipal Marathon, set to take place on February 11, 2024. This year’s marathon carries the poignant theme of “Hospice Care for People Living with Life-Limiting Illnesses,” embodying the rallying cry, “We are with you all the way.” The event aims to unite a global community in support of this noble cause.

Approximately 15,000 runners from various age groups are expected to participate, with international talents from countries such as Ethiopia, Germany, Kenya, England, Nepal, Malaysia, USA, and Sri Lanka gracing the event in previous editions. The 2024 edition is poised to attract an even more diverse and accomplished pool of participants.

Dr. H S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, emphasized the unifying power of running, emphasizing that the event is more than a race, but a platform for global unity in support of hospice care. He extended a warm invitation to runners and enthusiasts worldwide to join in this exhilarating event and make a profound impact on the lives of those in need.

Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, highlighted the scenic route of the marathon, which offers participants a unique blend of physical challenge and the breathtaking coastal beauty of Manipal and Udupi.

With diverse race categories, including the untimed 3K fun run and the challenging 42K, there’s a race for everyone, whether seasoned or a beginner, he said.

Mr. Ragupathi Bhat, Honorary Advisor of the Udupi District Amateur Athletics Association and ex-member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, expressed his wholehearted support for the Manipal Marathon.  Dr. Naveen Salins, Associate Dean of Kasturba Medical College and Head of the Palliative and Hospice Care Centre at KH Manipal, shared insights about the new Hospice project and the marathon’s theme.

Dr. Vinod Nayak, Secretary of Sports Council, MAHE, said that the registrations for the Manipal Marathon 2024 will be opening at http://www.manipalmarathon.in on October 15. The event promises generous prize money, a festive carnival atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and a host of Marathon goodies for all participants.
