The Bengaluru Carpet Committee, led by President Ashok Kumar Rai, announced the upcoming “Bengaluru Kambala-Namma Kambala” event at the palace grounds in Bangalore. The event, scheduled for the 25th and 26th, is expected to draw over 7 lakh attendees.
During a press conference held in Mangalore, Rai shared details about the event, which will feature, over 150 food and snack stalls, and exhibition stalls showcasing the coastal region’s diversity. Construction work on a carpet measuring 2 to 145 meters in length is set to begin.
On the 23rd, more than 125 Konas (buffaloes) will embark on a procession from Mangalore, receiving a grand welcome in Hassan. They will stay in Hassan for two hours before resting for a day in Bangalore. Arrangements have been made for the participating Konas and their attendants, including water supply from D.K. District to maintain their health.
The event will incur a cost of approximately 5 to 6 crores, with the winning first Kona receiving 2 pawan gold, the second Kona getting 1 gold pawan, and every participating Kona being awarded a gold medal.
The press conference was attended by prominent figures such as D.K. District Kambala Committee President Deviprasad Shetty, Kambala Disciplinary Committee Chief P.R. Shetty, former president Ermal Rohit Hegde, Kambala Samiti General Secretary Lokesh, judges Vijaya Kumar Kanginamane, Kambala Samiti Treasurer Chandrahas Sanil, and Bengaluru Kambala Samiti’s Muralidhar.
