Mangaluru: The state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nalin Kumar Kateel, has strongly condemned the incident of stone pelting during an Eid Milad procession in Shimoga.
The violence occurred amidst the celebration of Eid Milad, which is a significant religious event for the Muslim community.
Addressing the press, Kateel condemned the violence that unfolded during the Eid Milad procession, emphasizing that the recent Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the region had occurred peacefully without any disturbances.
The BJP leader suggested that extremist elements might be responsible for the unrest in Shimoga, alleging that Hindu-owned shops and houses were targeted during the Eid procession. He implied that such incidents could be attributed to the Congress party’s rise to power in the state.
Kateel also expressed concerns about the alleged display of Pakistan flags and pro-Pak slogans in the state, citing these as evidence of growing tensions. Furthermore, he claimed that terrorist activities were on the rise in Shimoga district.
He also pointed out that the accused in the Mangaluru cooker bomb incident had links in Shivamogga.
Kateel further criticized the government’s response to the situation, asserting that peace and order had deteriorated due to a lack of stringent action. He called for a thorough investigation into the incident, deeming it a failure on the part of the government.
Additionally, he accused the government of engaging in petty politics.
The BJP state president also claimed that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) and Congress governments were anti-Hindu, emphasizing the need for stronger measures to ensure communal harmony and security in the region.BJP State President condemns Shimoga stone pelting incident
