Buns Raghu, also known as Raghavendra Sheregar (42), a resident of Karvikeri, succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning at Manipal Hospital after being stabbed by an unidentified assailant on Sunday evening.

The incident unfolded around 7 pm on Sunday when Raghavendra had parked his Honda City car near the New Delhi Bazaar, close to the post office on Chicken Saal road. A stranger, who had arrived in a Wagon R, engaged in a heated argument with Raghavendra, which escalated into a violent altercation. The assailant, whose identity has been revealed as Shafi, hailing from Theerthahalli, allegedly stabbed Raghavendra in the thigh before fleeing the scene.

An alert eyewitness managed to capture a photo of the attacker along with his getaway vehicle during the stabbing. The authorities have since identified the suspect as Shafi, who had been lodging in Kundapur for some days prior to the incident. Shafi is currently on the run, and a police manhunt is underway to apprehend him.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the stabbing may be linked to a financial dispute. Raghavendra, survived by his wife and daughter, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but, unfortunately, did not survive his injuries.

The Kundapur police are actively conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to unravel the full details of this tragic incident.
