Mangaluru: Police send notice to youths for climbing freedom fighter’s statue

Ullal police sent notices to a group of youths who allegedly climbed on the statue of freedom fighter Rani Abbakka at Ullal during the Eid Milad procession on September 28.
Several youths, holding green flags had climbed the statue and allegedly behaved in a disrespectful manner. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media.
They had also blocked the road and honked continuously causing a nuisance to the public, police said.
Taking cognizance of the act, Ullal police acted swiftly and collected the video footage. Based on the footage, the youths were identified and notices were issued to them to appear before the investigating officer.
