Udupi: Unauthorised banners cleared following violence in Shivamogga

Udupi: Following the violence in neighbouring Shivamogga, City Council officials in Udupi conducted an operation to clear unauthorized banners and cutouts on Tuesday morning.

The operation was conducted with police protection. As many as 85 unauthorized banners and cut-outs erected without necessary permissions were cleared in Udupi City, Santhekatte, and Manipal.

Banners related to the Hindu Samajotsava being organized at MGM College on October 10 were installed without permission and they were also removed. Municipal officials said that the organization has applied for permission to install the banner in the evening on Tuesday.

MLA visits SP

Meanwhile, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna met District Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K. Briefing the media persons, Suvarna said that a request was made to the SP to permit the installation of banners and decorations in the city during the social festival. The SP has promised appropriate action, he added.
