Raghavendra Sherugar murder case: Police apprehend two suspects from Shivamogga

Police officials have taken two suspects into custody in connection with the murder of Raghavendra Sherugar, also known as Buns Raghu (42).

The victim, who sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital, tragically succumbed to his wounds after being attacked near Delhi Bazar, close to the Post Office on Chikansal Road.

Initial speculations suggested that there might have been a pre-existing feud or financial dispute between Raghavendra and the assailants, fueling rumors that they knew each other. However, it has been revealed during the course of the investigation that the altercation leading to the fatal stabbing began when their cars collided, indicating that there was no prior animosity between the parties involved.

The investigation quickly led authorities to three suspects from Shimoga. Acting swiftly, the Superintendent of Police (SP) tasked Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Beliyappa, Circle Inspector Nandakumar, and Brahmavar Circle Inspector P.M. Divakar with tracing the accused.

One of the accused, originally from Shivamogga, is reported to have ties to Udupi district. He has been known to indulge in vices such as gambling, often frequenting locations in Kundapur and Bhatkal for these activities. According to reports, the suspects arrived in Kundapur on September 29 and stayed in a local lodge.

It has come to light that one of the accused, with a history of more than eight criminal cases against him, frequently carried a knife and would not hesitate to use it even in minor altercations. In the past, he was involved in a stabbing incident during a confrontation in Agumbe.

The tragic escalation from a minor collision between a car and Raghu’s vehicle spiraled into a violent altercation. Despite local bystanders initially intervening to break up the fight, it rekindled and escalated into a stabbing, resulting in Raghavendra Sherugar’s untimely demise.
