Shaurya Jagran Rath Yatra in Udupi: Sharan Pumpwell barred from entering district

In the wake of the Shaurya Jagran Rath Yatra closing ceremony and Hindu Samajotsava being conducted by the VHP-Bajrang Dal in Udupi on Tuesday, VHP Provincial Coordinator Sharan Pumpwell has been prohibited from entering Udupi district by an order issued by the High Court.
The directive stemmed from Sharan Pumpwell’s involvement in delivering an allegedly provocative speech during a recent protest related to a case involving video recording within a college restroom in Udupi. Subsequently, police officials initiated a voluntary case against him, which was registered at the Udupi Nagar police station.
Although Sharan Pumpwell was granted bail by the Udupi court in connection with this case, it came with the condition that he must not leave Dakshina Kannada district without prior authorization. Consequently, authorities prevented him from participating in the Hindu Samajotsava in Udupi that took place recently.
Failure to adhere to these bail conditions may result in his arrest for violating the terms of his release. Consequently, it has been reported that Sharan Pumpwell decided not to participate in the function and returned from Hejamady after being informed of the Udupi police’s order.
Udupi District Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arun K., emphasized that Sharan Pumpwell is legally bound by the court’s bail conditions, which prohibit him from leaving the district. He further warned that if Pumpwell were to violate these terms and enter Udupi district, legal action would be taken against him.
