Heavy rain causes damage in various regions of DK

Over the past three days, Dakshina Kannada District in Karnataka has witnessed heavy rainfall, resulting in damage. Notably, areas such as Mundaje, Dharmasthala, Ujire, Belthangady, Naravi, Kutlur, and Venur experienced significant downpours, primarily occurring during the evening hours.

Moderate rainfall was observed in Sullia taluk and the Subrahmanya region on Wednesday evening, with Kadaba experiencing particularly heavy rain. Substantial rainfall was reported in multiple areas, including Sullia, Aranthodu, Sampaje, Mandekolu, Jalsur, Bellare, Panja, Kollamogru, Harihara Pallattadka, Subrahmanya, Balpa, Edamangala, and Bilinele. Additionally, Kadaba, Kallugudde, Nujibalthila, and Renjiladi areas witnessed significant evening rainfall.

Throughout Dakshina Kannada district, rain was widespread on Wednesday. Mangalore experienced a mixture of sunshine and clouds.

The Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast suggests that the coastal region may receive an alert on the 12th, with the potential for substantial rainfall. In Mangalore, the maximum temperature recorded was 30.5 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 23.9 degrees Celsius.

Lightning Strikes Cause Damage in Puttur and Bantwal

Lightning strikes on Tuesday night led to damage to Poovappa Gowda’s house and electrical appliances in Kolya, Chikkamutnur village. Fortunately, the occupants of the house escaped unharmed. Officials, including Bannur Gram Panchayat President Smita Nayka, Vice President Sheenappa Kulal, and Member Thimmappa Pujari, visited the site to inspect the damage.

Torrential rain accompanied by lightning swept through Bantwal taluk on Tuesday night, resulting in damage to five houses. In Baltila village, the lightning strike disrupted the electricity connection of Sheena’s house, damaging electrical appliances. The house of Thomas in Arkecharu, Idkidu village, suffered partial damage due to lightning. In Bolantoor village, the fiber sheets on the roof of Abdul Khader’s house in Suribail were damaged. A house on Medu Kudur Road in Salethtur village, owned by Hamid, was also damaged by lightning strikes. The house of Abdul Razak in Aladi, Sajeepamunnur village, experienced structural damage as well.
