BJP state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, on Friday said that the discovery of a substantial amount of Rs 42 crore in the residence of a contractor in Bangalore has raised concerns over potential corruption.
Kateel said, “Income tax officials conducted a raid on the home of Ambikapati, a Bangalore-based contractor. Just a few days prior, the government had released a sum of Rs 600 crore, and there are suspicions that this money may be related to commissions. The government is functioning like an “ATM” in the state, allegedly collecting funds for Telangana elections. Some officials had previously voiced concerns about commissions, even alerting the governor and had referred to this as an “ATM government” during the elections.”
He also accused the government of engaging in widespread corruption, claiming that this revelation serves as proof of the administration’s deviation from ethical practices. Kateel lamented that two contractors had already taken their lives due to harassment.
Kateel clarified that the income tax department’s actions were not taken under any external pressure and that the money was seized following the release of funds to the contractor.
This incident has shed light on allegations of corruption in the government. Kateel called for the resignations of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
He criticized the government for what he referred to as a culture of corruption and commissions, accusing it of neglecting the needs of the state’s citizens, particularly farmers facing electricity shortages.
Furthermore, Kateel accused Israel of supporting terrorists during conflicts, emphasizing that the Congress and its coalition align with Palestine in this context.
