Udupi: What is the connection to Congress if money is found in someone’s house, asked Karnataka Agriculture Minister  N. Chaluvarayaswamy responding to BJP’s allegations.

Addressing a press conference held in Udupi on Saturday, Chaluvarayaswamy dismissed any involvement of the Congress party. He stated that the allegations raised by BJP leaders lacked conviction. Swamy attributed the BJP’s discontent to their recent loss of power, asserting that it was a desperate reaction to the pro-people policies and effective governance of the Congress party  in the state.

The Minister emphasized that the responsibility for investigating the matter rested with the central investigative agencies and reiterated that Congress bore no responsibility for the funds found. He maintained that there was no moral ground for demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister.

Regarding the alleged Brahmavar sugar factory scam, Swamy said a comprehensive investigation will be ordered. He disclosed that complaints and appeals had been received, and assured that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would oversee the matter and issue appropriate directives. The government also pledged to review the factory’s revival and vowed to take necessary action if any wrongdoing was identified.

In response to the challenges faced by farmers due to load shedding, the Minister said the governement is committed to finding a solution within the week. He assured that the government was fully prepared to address drought situations across all taluks, with crop surveys already 92% complete. Swamy urged the central government to promptly take action to provide maximum compensation to the state in light of the impending drought conditions.

Furthermore, Chaluvarayaswamy expressed his skepticism towards the efficacy of a alliance between the BJP and JDS in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, confidently predicting Congress to secure 20 parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections.
