Health dept allocates Rs 11 Cr for reconstruction project at District Wenlock hospital

The Health Department has proposed an allocation of Rs 11 crore for the reconstruction project at District Wenlock Hospital. Health Minister and District In-charge Minister, Dinesh Gundurao, has affirmed that this funding will be used to enhance the hospital’s infrastructure. Minister Gundurao made this announcement during a progress review meeting held at Wenlock on Wednesday.

The allocation of Rs 11 crore is expected to catalyze a series of improvements at the hospital. These upgrades include the construction of new facilities such as buildings for drug storage, the medical record department, the MDRTB ward, and a biomedical waste room, among others. The allocation will also cover the creation of a new dialysis unit featuring 30 beds. Furthermore, funds will be used for fire safety works, the renovation of existing structures including the outpatient and administrative department, as well as the construction of a hospital kitchen building. Medical equipment and furniture procurement for a new surgical block are also part of the plan. The Rs 11 crore funding includes contributions from AB-ARK (Rs 2 crore) and KMC (Rs 2 crore).

During his visit to the hospital, the minister observed the dialysis unit with 13 new machines, expressing dissatisfaction with the prevailing conditions. He raised concerns about issues with the dialysis machines and instructed authorities to address these problems promptly. The minister also assured that 13 new single-use dialysis machines would be provided for the unit, improving the hospital’s overall dialysis services.
