Parashurama theme park controversy: MLA Sunil Kumar breaks silence

Karkala: MLA V. Sunil Kumar vehemently denied any wrongdoing in the construction of the Prashurama theme park in Karkala.

Addressing the media at his office on Saturday, Sunil Kumar claimed that the allegations levelled against him were “baseless and completely false.” Further, he said that he had chosen to remain silent so far to uphold the dignity and honour of his constituency.

The former Minister of Kannada and Culture and the Energy Department said that the allegations were politically motivated attempts of character assassination. It is a conspiracy by “left-leaning Congress and urban naxals”, he said.

The baseless statements by the defeated Congress candidate were damaging the reputation and dignity of Karkala, accusing them of lacking social commitment, he added.

“In case there are any lapses in Parasurama theme park, only the district administration and officials of the concerned department have the authority to conduct an investigation and not the Congress party workers,” he retorted.

Let the government order an investigation if there is any doubt.  However, action should be taken against those who spread lies and slander about the statue, he asserted.

MLA V. Sunil Kumar called upon the government to promptly provide the necessary funding to complete the project. In the event that the grant is not allocated, “the statue will be completed even by begging for funds from the public,” he said, adding that only those who love Karkala can work for its development.
