Suratkal: In a new development for travelers, the Bengaluru-Mangaluru train route has been extended to include the picturesque town of Murdeshwar, a popular tourist destination in Uttara Kannada district. This extension has brought immense joy to passengers traveling to this scenic part of Karnataka.

Moreover, potential improvements to the current schedule make it an even more attractive prospect for tourists traveling from Mangaluru to Suratkal and Udupi, providing convenient access to various tourist spots along the way. The recent surge in passengers during the Navratri season underlines the significance of this expansion.

The train now departs from Bengaluru at 8.15 pm, arriving in Mysore at 11.20 am. It then proceeds to Mangaluru, reaching at 8.30 am, and Udupi at 10.40 am. This extension offers seamless access to numerous tourist destinations, including Barkur, Kollur, Bhatkala, and Murdeshwar, making it a cost-effective choice for day-trippers and families.

The train is particularly well-suited for those seeking a comfortable and leisurely journey between Murdeshwar and Mysore, a renowned tourist hub in Uttara Kannada district. However, discussions have also emerged suggesting the potential for a schedule adjustment to allow passengers to arrive in Mysore before dawn when leaving Murdeshwar in the afternoon.

The train schedule for this extended service is as follows:

Train No. 16585:

Leaves Visvesvaraya Terminal at 8.15 PM
Reaches Mysore at 11.30 PM
Arrives at Mangalore Central Station at 8.30 AM
Departs Central at 9.40 AM
Reaches Murdeshwar at 12.55 PM

Train No. 16586:

Leaves Murdeshwara at 2.10 PM
Arrives at Mangaluru Central Station at 6.25 PM
Reaches Mysore at 3.25 AM
Arrives in Bengaluru at 7.15 AM

This new rail connectivity linking Bengaluru, Mysore, and Murdeshwar is proving to be a boon for travelers exploring the coastal areas. Anticipations are high that the number of passengers on this route will continue to increase in the coming days, further boosting tourism in the region
