Bengaluru: Forest minister Eshwar Khandre said that legal action will be taken against those who use tiger claw lockets and other wildlife items to make jewels or for any other purpose.

Addressing presspersons, Minister Khandre noted that in the past, animals were hunted for their teeth, skin, horns, and other body parts, resulting in open and widespread punishment. Presently, arrests have been made due to the utilization of tiger claws across the state, aimed at attracting people. He indicated that the possibility of additional arrests cannot be ruled out, emphasizing that actions will be in strict accordance with the law.

Authorities have signaled their intent to take legal action against Kannada film actors Darshan and Vinaya Guruji for their objectionable behavior in wearing tiger claws in public. Minister Khandre assured that if the public lodges complaints regarding such incidents, the law will be invoked accordingly.

It is important to note that the use, storage, and transportation of animal products have long been prohibited, with a seven-year prison term serving as the punishment for this offense.
