As the winter season approaches, Mangalore International Airport is gearing up for a significant uptick in flight operations, with changes scheduled to commence from October 29.
During the period spanning from October 29 to November 15, the airport expects to witness a remarkable 26 percent increase in the number of flights. Presently serving 136 weekly flights, this number will rise to 172, further enhancing connectivity to and from Mangalore.
SpiceJet, for instance, is set to operate two daily flights to Bengaluru on all days except Tuesdays. This enhanced service will start on October 6, introducing an additional flight on Tuesdays.
Air India Express will join in on the action as well. Starting from November 15, the airline will operate two daily flights to Bangalore, with one of them offering a connection to Kannur or Thiruvananthapuram. IndiGo, another prominent airline, is expanding its services by introducing a fourth daily flight to Mumbai starting from December 3. Moreover, IndiGo will now operate five flights on the second and fourth Saturdays. In addition to its daily flight to Chennai, the airline plans to add four extra weekly flights. In the coming months, passengers can also anticipate new IndiGo routes connecting Mangalore to Patna, Ranchi, and Kolkata, set to begin by March next year.
Presently, IndiGo offers five daily flights to Bangalore, two daily flights to Hyderabad, and one daily flight to Delhi, which will continue unchanged.
The Mangalore airport, which currently handles 136 flights per week on the domestic and international fronts, is poised to facilitate an increase to 172 flights by November 15, as confirmed by the Airport Authority’s announcement. This boost in flights promises greater connectivity for travelers in the region.
