Mangaluru: A fraudulent attempt to extort money by misusing the profile picture of Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Anupam Agarwal, through a deceptive WhatsApp message and call has come to light.
A perpetrator, falsely posing as the Commissioner of Police employed the Commissioner’s photo as their WhatsApp profile picture. The fraudster sent several messages to various contacts associated with the Commissioner, including fellow police officers, urging them to transfer funds with a promise of swift reimbursement.
