Chikkamagaluru: Rowdy sheeter injured in police firing

Chikkamagaluru: A rowdy sheeter was injured in police firing at NR Pura Taluk. A police personnel was also injured in the incident.

According to police, the incident took place when the police had been to arrest Rowdy Sheeter Purnesh.

A team of Balehonnur police led by PSI Dilip Kumar had been to arrest Purnesh on a court warrant for failing to appear in court.  Purnesh allegedly attacked the police with a knife, whereupon, two shots were fired in the air as a warning. When Purnesh still resisted he was shot in the leg by PSI Dilip.

Police constable Manjunath was injured in the assault and has been admitted to a hospital in Balehonnur. The accused Purnesh has been taken to Chikkamagaluru district hospital for treatment.
