3-fold increase in relief amount given to kin of KSRTC employees from Nov 1

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) announced a revision in the relief amount disbursed to the kin of an employee in case of deaths occurring due to reasons other than accidents while on duty.

The relief amount for death due to illness, under the family welfare scheme, has been enhanced from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and is applicable from November 1 onwards. Apart from this, the corporation provides accidental insurance cover of Rs 1 crore to its employees in case of their death on duty.

As per stats, around 100 employees die each year due to diseases like cancer, stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, etc. The corporation was earlier providing a relief amount of Rs 3 lakh to the kin of the deceased to help them tide over financial difficulties. This is now being increased to Rs 10 lakhs.

For this purpose, there has also been a revision in the monthly employee contribution from Rs 100 to Rs 200 while the corporation’s contribution has been revised from Rs 50 to Rs 100.
