Shivamogga: In yet another twist to the bomb scare at Shimoga railway station, police said that the act was carried out by two miscreants on the pretext of giving money to a man.

On Sunday, two anonymous boxes triggered a bomb scare here and the bomb disposal squad was pressed into action. However, the boxes were found to have contained salt and other waste materials.

Police have arrested two persons identified as Zabiullah and Baba in connection with this incident.

The accused had allegedly obtained blank cheques from Rajesh Jadhav of Goa and Girish of Tiptur and promised to give them money at a low rate of interest. Later the accused asked the victims to come to Shimoga as it would be difficult for them to come to Goa.

The accused filled the boxes with salt and convinced the victims that they had kept Rs 2 crore in the boxes.
