DDLR office manager arrested by lokayukta for accepting bribe

The Lokayukta police apprehended Kesavamurthy, the office manager of the DDLR department, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in connection with land survery number correction.

The arrest comes after an operation conducted by the Lokayukta, where Kesavamurthy fell into the trap laid by the anti-corruption unit. The accused, a resident of Pallagatte village in Jagaluru taluk, was involved in altering the POD number for a land survey (65/7) belonging to Meenakshamma, spanning an area of 12 gunte.

According to the complaint filed by Meenakshamma’s representative, Muniyappa, Kesavamurthy had demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 for the correction. After negotiations, an agreement was reached for Rs 30,000.

Upon learning of the bribery attempt, Muniyappa reported the incident to the Lokayukta, prompting an immediate response. During a sting operation at the District Collector’s office, Kesavamurthy was caught red-handed accepting an advance bribe of Rs 5,000.

Further investigations into the corruption case are underway.
