MAHE inks MOU with QuidelOrtho for Center of Excellence in Immunohematology – First of its kind in India

Manipal: Center of Excellence (CoE) in Immunohematology is now established at the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.
Lt Gen Dr. MD Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, speaking on the occasion appreciated the collaborative efforts of the team from Kasturba Hospital Blood center and QuidelOrtho which would be greatly beneficial for patient care and blood safety.
The Registrar Dr Giridhar Kini has signed the memorandum of understanding between MAHE and Quidel Ortho.
The General Manager, Quidel Ortho Mr Krishnamoorthi stated that they are proud to be associated with Manipal Academy of Higher Education and he mentioned that this is the first of its kind in India. Dr Anand Venugopal Chief Operating Officer of the Teaching Hospitals of MAHE extended his appreciation and gratitude to QuidelOrtho and the coordinators of the center.
Dr Shamee Shastry, the coordinator of the center, and Professor and head of the Department of Immuno-hematology and Blood Transfusion said that “With the status of COE we aim to facilitate both clinical and academic excellence in the field of Immunohematology, by implementing and leading various best practices, Process Excellence, Continuous Quality Improvement in the journey of Donor’s vein to Patient’s vein. The objective of the centre is to act as a reference hub for the entire nation and to promote research and innovation in the field of Immunohematology.”
Pro Vice-Chancellor- Health Sciences MAHE, Dr Sharath Rao, Dr Padmaraj Hegde, the Dean of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Dr Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal were among the other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
