Renowned urologist, Dr G G Laxman Prabhu of KMC Hospital, no more

Mangaluru: Renowned urologist Dr. G G Laxman Prabhu passed away on November 17 in Mangaluru.
It is gathered that Dr Prabhu had suffered a heart attack while on duty at KMC hospital Mangaluru a week ago, after which he was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the hospital. He passed away this morning without responding to treatment.
With a vast experience spanning 36 years, he dedicated his expertise to KMC Hospital Mangaluru. Proficient in general urology, urolithiasis, andrology, urodynamics, recon-urology, urogynecology, and endourology, he was recognized for his meticulous attention, precise diagnoses, and compassionate patient care.
Dr. Prabhu, holding degrees in MBBS, MS General Surgery, MCh Genitourinary Surgery, DNB Urology, was elected as secretary (elect) of the Urological Society of India (USI) in 2022. The USI, representing India’s qualified urologists, maintains close collaborations with global urologist associations.
Throughout his career, Dr. Prabhu served in various esteemed positions, including council member and president of Karnataka Urology Association, secretary of the Association of Southern Urologists, and council member of the Urological Society of India. He also contributed significantly to the former IMA DK branch, now known as IMA Mangalore, as secretary.
