A case has been registered at the Malpe police station, citing that 30 to 40 people obstructed police duty when the accused in Nejar murder case, Praveen Chowgale was taken to the crime scene.

It is said that a large crowd gathered and attempted to assault the accused, prompting the police to employ a mild baton charge to control the situation.

Following the investigation process, when the accused was being taken away in a departmental vehicle, approximately 30 to 40 individuals blocked the path, insisting on delivering their own form of justice. Amidst the commotion, a Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) constable fell into a drain, sustaining injuries. He was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

An FIR for rioting has been registered, with authorities noting that actions will be taken against those found to be inciting the disturbance. Local spectators who were merely observing the events will not face repercussions, as clarified by police officials.
