Mangaluru: Protesters gathered near Sarvjna Circle in Bondel on Sunday, demanding a high-level investigation into a tragic accident that occurred near Ladyhill last month.
The incident resulted in the death of a young woman, Rupashree, and injuries to four others.
The mother of Rupashree started the protest by lighting a lamp in memory of her daughter. The protesters alleged that the district administration and police had not carried out the investigation properly. They demanded justice for Rupshree and better safety for pedestrians.
Hundreds of protesters took out a silent march and walked silently with lamps.
It may be recalled that the incident, which occurred on October 18, involved a speeding car colliding with five young women walking on the footpath, tragically resulting in the death of Rupashree, a 23-year-old resident of Suratkal.
