Mangaluru: MRPL Road in Surathkal will be named after the brave Indian Army officer late Captain M V Pranjal, who was martyred in the battle with terrorists in Rajouri, Kashmir, said Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur.
Speaking to Udayavani on Monday, the Mayor said it was deemed appropriate to rename the road as Capt Pranjal used to travel on this road daily as a child. Capt. Pranjal’s father was the managing director of MRPL. “This proposal will be included in the agenda of the next MCC General Assembly, approved, and forwarded to the government,” he added.
He further said that a decision on MLA Dr. Y Bharath Shetty’s proposal for naming the Kottara Chowki junction after Captain Pranjal as a tribute will be taken after a discussion.
Meanwhile, MLA Bharath Shetty has said that he has written to the Mangaluru City Corporation to initiate steps for naming the stretch of the Ganeshpur-Katipalla-Surathkal circle after Capt Pranjal.
